About Laiken

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a hard-nosed, smart, field general on the diamond. I work hard behind the plate receiving, blocking and framing pitches. At 1B, I use my athletic ability to field my position. In the outfield I use my athleticism to cover ground, take good angles on balls and make smart plays.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a competitive person between the lines. I want to do my best to help my team win games.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed a skill as a leader as a catcher on the diamond and a point guard on the basketball court. I am the ultimate teammate and want to see all of my teammates shine and do well.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have had some issues with my asthma, including a 9-day 8 8-night stay in the ICU at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. I make sure to take care of my body to lessen the risk of another attack. I take each day as a blessing and make the most out of what I am given.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has a good academic and softball program. I am unsure what I want to major in currently but I know academics are important to me.
