Caylan Arnold Elliott | Prep Softball Scout
Kate Flanagan continues to establish herself as one of the most complete and consistent performers in the 2030 class. A multi-sport athlete and 2025 USA All-American, she brings a high level of athleticism and competitiveness that shows up in every phase of her game. At the Gulf Coast Classic with her Vestavia Hills team, Flanagan delivered a dominant performance in the circle. Across 15.1 innings, she allowed just 1 earned run, finishing with a 0.46 ERA. She limited hitters to a .089 batting average against and posted an impressive .456 WHIP, striking out 20 while issuing only 2 walks. Her ability to control the zone and minimize traffic sets her apart, consistently forcing hitters into unfavorable counts. Her curveball is a standout pitch. It has sharp break and she commands it with confidence, using it both early in counts and as a put-away option. The consistency of that pitch, combined with her overall command, keeps hitters off balance and unable to square the ball up. Flanagan also made a strong impact offensively, hitting .476 with a .542 on-base percentage, including a home run and two doubles. Her production at the plate reflects her overall athletic ability and competitive mindset. Flanagan’s combination of command, pitch quality, and all-around performance highlights a pitcher who understands how to control the game. She competes with confidence and precision, making her one of the most reliable arms to watch in the 2030 class.

Her impact doesn’t end in the batter’s box. In the circle, she delivered equally strong results, finishing with a 1.62 ERA across 29.2 innings, holding opponents to a .158 batting average. She struck out 36, walked only seven, and posted an excellent 0.775 WHIP, highlighting her control and ability to dominate lineups. Kate Flanagan has been busy on the camp circuit, visiting Georgia, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and UCF since the start of 2025. Any of those programs would be lucky to have her. Flanagan had a 1.32 ERA over the summer in 85 1/3 innings pitched, striking out 101 batters and holding them to a .184 average. She also hit .316 herself with a .405 on-base percentage and 13 runs batted in. Her drop ball is an especially effective pitch against both righthanders and lefthanders, and she works the top of the zone with her off-speed stuff as well, generating off-balance swings and called strikes. Flanagan also has multiple plus breaking balls with lateral movement to both the arm side and glove side. And she can help her own cause at the plate, hitting line drives up the middle and using her speed to take extra bases.
