About Kaiya

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My style of play is athletic and quick. My strengths are reading the ball off the bat and a strong arm from the outfield. I move quick to the ball to keep runners from advancing. My hitting is a mostly being a contact/gap hitter with hard hit line drives and grounders.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My personality is not an overly excited player on the field as I remain focused on playing hard as best as I can. My mentality is to help the team with my play on the field and helping with equipment, set up for stations, and clean up after practice and games. I am also a little goofy at times when I try to have fun with the girls.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I was proud to be selected as a member of the National Junior Honor Society at my middle school and look forward to continuing that in high school. Being active in sports, I will attempt to learn about other club opportunities throughout my freshman year.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

My leadership style would be “lead by example” rather than a vocal leader. I work hard on and off the field. I don’t always feel comfortable being the loudest one on the team in the dugout, but appreciate those who motivate others that way. I do use my voice in the field though! My goal is to be the best teammate to the players I can be and try to lift them up.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Fortunately I have not had too many “significant” challenges that have affected me. I did take a break during the winter for a couple months due to minor injuries and just needing time to refocus. I was able to meet with a sports psychologist and get mental workbooks to help guide me in my process. I really feel this was a great reset for me and allowed me to appreciate the game more.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am not sure exactly which school is top of my list just yet but I am excited to play at the highest level I can achieve. Whether that’s a major D1 or another division all together. My plan for my studies are doing an aviation (pilot) program so I would consider that to be a guide in my plans. I want to find a school/program that fits my personality and study goals.

Kaiya Devereux helped her Holy Family softball team finish its 2025 season with a 4A state championship after rallying from behind to defeat Windsor by a final score of 7-4 at the Aurora Sports Park. The Tigers trailed 4-0 going into the top of the fourth before Holy Family tallied six runs in that frame. One of those runs was courtesy of a Devereux single to conclude an eight-pitch at-bat. Devereux concluded her freshman campaign with the Tigers by batting .434 and scoring 22 runs. She also collected 15 RBIs. We previously spotlighted Devereux as a 2029 who is already on the radar of college coaches, and that is sure to continue now that she has added a state championship to her resume.
