Kaylie Newcomb | Prep Softball Scout
Back at it again, Sophia Roye is a talent to watch and an upcoming star. Coming off a solid summer season, Roye continued that performance into the fall, helping lead her team to a 13-6 record. Roye has continued to dominate in the circle. Finishing the fall with a 2.68 ERA and pitching 41.2 innings overall, she concluded the season with a record of 6-3, racking up 46 strikeouts and only allowing 16 earned runs, while stranding 40 runners on base. Opponents only batted .176 against the righty with her WHIP at 1.24 for the season. Her speed continues to climb, as she has hit a new milestone of 63 mph. Roye’s mentality never changes, as she puts in the work and grinds everything out. Even in the box, she finished with a .417 batting average, collecting 15 hits in 36 at-bats with an OPS of .975 on the season.

is already making noise in the circle, and she’s only just getting started. With a four-pitch arsenal—including a sharp drop, nasty drop-curve, deceptive changeup, and a fastball that tops out in the low 60s—Roye keeps hitters guessing. In just 30.1 innings of work in travel ball this season, she’s posted a 2.76 ERA, stranded 22 runners, walked only nine batters, and racked up 41 strikeouts. Her mix of command, velocity, and poise in the circle is rare for her age. She continues to improve, and the sky is the limit for her. As she heads into her freshman season, one thing is clear: Roye isn’t just a rising prospect, she’s a future ace.
