Top 2028 Prospects To Watch In Idaho

In Idaho, snow may still be on the ground, but high schools across the state are getting going on the diamond. For Idaho's softball class of 2028, a big year in their recruiting journey is here.   Below, Prep Softball highlights five of the top softball players from Idaho in the high school graduating class of 2028.    Bella Jensen is a two-sport athlete who will also likely play with Skyline's varsity volleyball team throughout her high school career. College coaches often love players who participate in multiple sports, and Bella truly showcases a strong athleticism that is present in multi-sport athletes. Though she spends much of her time playing third and first base, she can also hold down second base, and with more development in her agility, she could see some time at shortstop. She's already had dominant statistics in travel ball, and looks to improve on a great year with USA Explosion this summer. Bella's bat is powerful, and she'll continue to grow into a power hitter in the middle of any lineup.     Whenever a catcher can also lock down the hot corner at third base, you know that player has the necessary skills to seamlessly translate to the next level. Colby Slippey may stand at just 5-foot-4, but she packs an incredible punch both at the plate and behind it. She has a tremendously strong and accurate arm with great technique at catcher that allows her to gun down would-be runners across the diamond. Her swing is simple and free flowing, and hopefully she'll be able to add more power over the next few years to truly realize her potential at the plate.     Macy McClaran is a middle infielder with Mountainview High School who can absolutely mash the ball. She is continuing to develop her repertoire in the circle in order to become an option for her club team over the summer, but even if that only pans out to be a relief option, Macy's bat is good enough to turn recruiters' heads. Her swing is extremely powerful, and she uses her lower half in her swing better than most freshmen across the country. With an overhand velocity already in the mid 50s, Macy certainly demonstrates the potential to be an option at every position on the field, further increasing the versatility of an already dynamic player.     Alexis Gould is another multi-sport athlete who competed on Filer's varsity basketball team this winter, and did a darn good job in her role. But on the softball diamond, she is quickly developing into a strong catching option in both school and travel ball. Alexis has tremendous speed on the basepaths and can easily turn routine singles into doubles and triples into inside-the-park home runs. She certainly has the chance to turn into a slapper with a high on-base percentage who can stand atop Filer's lineup and, one day, lead off at the collegiate level. Behind the plate, she uses her entire body to gun down runners with a high efficiency and tends to have a solid command of her pitchers.     Brooklynn Reed has one of the most powerful swings of any freshman in the state of Idaho. At 5-foot-10, she is a menacing presence in the batter's box, and has showcased tremendous power to every part of the field. On one of the top travel teams in Idaho, Brooklynn separated herself early and often as a tremendous talent who could one day play at a high level in college. On defense, she possesses a strong arm and has great range at third base, but is also athletic enough to hold down first base over the next few years.
