Shelbi Stevens was merely very good across her first two high school seasons, but the Kansas commit exploded this spring and broke her own school single-season home run record with 11, hitting all of them by March 15. That led to her third first-team all-district selection, and she complemented her offensive production by playing error-free defense at catcher. Stevens punishes mistakes over the plate but can also launch pitches below the zone out of the ballpark, and even if she is slightly behind, she can still drive the ball over the fence to right-center. She is also adept at blocking balls behind the plate, and has an excellent arm that has deterred many runners from even attempting to steal on her.
