2031 Pitchers Showing Progress Early This Fall

The 2031 pitching class is already making noise this fall. These young arms are showing improved velocity, command, movement, and confidence inside the circle. While they still have plenty of room to develop, their early progress has made them pitchers worth watching closely as the season continues.   Below, Prep Softball highlights five pitchers from the high school class of 2031 who are showing early progress this fall.    Sara Stevens is an exciting left-handed pitcher with serious upside in the 2031 class. Reportedly reaching between 61 and 63 mph, she attacks hitters with impressive velocity, confidence, and a strong presence in the circle. Her left-handed delivery gives batters a difficult look, while her developing command and movement make her even tougher to square up. As Stevens continues improving her pitch sequencing and consistency, she has the potential to become one of the most dangerous young arms in her class.     Jacquelyn Schwinn is an exciting right-handed pitcher with plenty of upside in the 2031 class. Her drop curve is a developing weapon, giving hitters late downward movement and creating opportunities for swings and misses or weak ground-ball contact. Schwinn competes with confidence, attacks the strike zone, and continues showing encouraging progress inside the circle. As her command, velocity, and pitch sequencing develop, she has the potential to become a difficult matchup and one of the young arms to follow in her class.     Alexia Gurtler is a talented 5'7" left-handed pitcher with exciting upside in the 2031 class. Her size, arm strength, and left-handed delivery create a tough angle for hitters, while her ability to produce strikeouts shows her potential developing inside the circle. Gurtler competes with confidence, attacks hitters, and continues working toward stronger velocity and command. As she improves her movement, location, and pitch sequencing, she has the tools to become a difficult matchup and one of Louisiana's young arms to follow.     Ivionna Adams brings power, poise, and proven production to the circle. The 2031 right-hander has reportedly registered 61 mph from 43 feet and pairs that velocity with a developing rise ball that can climb past barrels. She works with an aggressive mindset and has the strength to overpower hitters when she locates her pitches. Already a 2024 PGF 10U national champion, Adams has competed successfully on a major stage. Her combination of experience, velocity, and continued development makes her an arm that deserves plenty of attention moving forward.     Mia Teller is beginning to separate herself as a legitimate pitching threat in the 2031 class. The 5'6" right-hander has entered the 60-mph club, combining strong velocity with the ability to consistently miss bats. During a recent 15U doubleheader, Teller worked two scoreless innings with five strikeouts, no walks, and a .000 batting average allowed. Those numbers show that she can bring power without sacrificing control. Her ability to pound the zone, get ahead in counts, and finish hitters makes her a pitcher worth tracking closely. When Teller steps into the circle, opposing lineups have their work cut out for them.
