Below, Prep Softball highlights five prospects from the high school graduating class of 2031 who could be next to break out.    Charlotte Methvin is an emerging 2031 prospect whose versatility makes her an exciting player to follow. The right-handed pitcher and outfielder competes for Signal Mountain and Louisville Lady Sluggers 2013–Butler, a 12U Super Division program that finished the 2026 season ranked No. 41 nationally by Alliance Fastpitch. She has also earned a tournament MVP honor, demonstrating that she can step up and make an impact when the competition rises. Methvin brings value inside the circle, in the outfield, and as a utility option. With several years remaining to develop her command, velocity, and complete offensive game, she has the foundation to become a name that gains serious attention in the 2031 class.     Hudson “Huddy” Melton is a promising 2031 catcher representing Hewitt-Trussville and Gametime VS31 Premier. Standing at 5-foot-2, she has already begun developing the defensive tools needed to command the area behind the plate. Melton's throwing ability gives her the potential to control the running game, while her energy and competitive attitude bring an added spark to her team. She embraces the demands of catching and continues building confidence as a receiver, blocker, and communicator. With continued development on both sides of the ball, “Huddy” has an opportunity to become a well-rounded catcher and a prospect worth tracking closely. Her combination of size, arm talent, and enthusiasm could place her among the next breakout players in the 2031 class.     Suzannah “Suzie” Clark is a versatile 2031 prospect from Dutchtown who plays for Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2031–Tennyson. The 5-foot-4 athlete can contribute in center field, at shortstop, and at third base, displaying good range, quick decision-making, and defensive awareness. Clark is a four-sport athlete with a reported 3.9 GPA and earned an invitation to the 2026 USA Softball High Performance Program National Selection Event. With her athleticism, versatility, and developing all-around game, she is a breakout prospect to follow closely in the 2031 class.     Brooklyn Richardson is a high-level 2031 left-handed pitcher with GametimeVS12 National. As a seventh grader at Shelby County, she recorded 229 strikeouts in 110⅔ innings—ranking ninth in Alabama—and earned Class 5A Second-Team All-State honors. Now at Thompson, the 5-foot-8 Richardson brings an imposing presence, swing-and-miss ability, and a developing rise ball to the circle. She also provides value at first base and has shown home-run power offensively. Already producing against varsity competition, Richardson is a proven young arm with the tools to become one of the premier pitchers in her class.     Aubree Grady is a promising two-way prospect from Forge Christian who competes on the club circuit with the Colorado Invasion. The 5-foot-3 right-hander brings valuable versatility, contributing inside the circle and at third base. Grady has also gained experience with the Colorado Batbusters organization, which has exposed her to a competitive travel schedule. Her ability to pitch, defend the hot corner, and provide a right-handed bat gives coaches multiple ways to use her on the field. As her pitching command, power, and overall consistency continue developing, Grady has the potential to emerge as a name to watch in Colorado's 2031 class.
