2031 Prospects Who Built Momentum In Summer Ball

The 2031 class continued to impress this summer with standout performances at national tournaments, championship events, and elite showcases across the country. Young athletes in the class elevated their games against top competition and are quickly establishing themselves as some of the rising names to watch in the years ahead.   Below, Prep Softball highlights six prospects from the high school class of 2031 who built momentum in summer ball.    Chloe Whittenberger is establishing herself as one of the top young corner infielders in the 2031 class. Representing Region 1 on the 12U USA All American Team and Rhode Island in the Little League Softball Eastern Regional Championship, she gained valuable experience competing against some of the nation's top talent this summer. Whittenberger's biggest asset is her impact at the plate. She consistently shows the ability to drive the ball with authority. Defensively, she provides versatility on the corners at both first and third base, handling each position with confidence and dependable hands. Away from the field, she is equally impressive, maintaining a 4.0 GPA while earning recognition as a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Her combination of power, defensive versatility, academic excellence, and experience on big stages makes her a 2031 prospect to keep an eye on.     Brentlee Brandon put together one of the most complete summers of any player in the 2031 class, proving she can impact games as both a dominant pitcher and an offensive producer. Representing Region 4 in the USA Softball All American Games added another impressive accomplishment to an already outstanding season. Brandon played a pivotal role in leading her team to the 12U AFCS Tier II National Championship, earning Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors. At the plate, she hit .452 with 19 hits, including two doubles and three triples, while driving in 15 runs and scoring 11 more. In the circle, she was equally impressive, recording 32 strikeouts across 34 innings and consistently giving her team a chance to win. She has elite ability to perform under pressure, contribute in multiple phases of the game, and shine on championship stages.     Maleah Lee put together an exceptional summer that showcased why she is quickly becoming one of the premier two-way infielders in the 2031 class. Competing for Oklahoma Athletics National 2013, Lee consistently impacted games with her bat, speed, and defensive reliability against high-level competition. At the plate, Lee hit .411 while posting a 1.064 OPS, collecting 81 hits, driving in 56 runs, scoring 72 times, and swiping 36 bases. Her offensive profile is highlighted by legitimate home run power, giving her the ability to change a game with one swing while still applying pressure on the bases. Defensively, she was a steady presence on the left side of the infield, recording 103 putouts and assists between shortstop and third base. Away from softball, Lee also excels in the classroom with a perfect 4.0 GPA.     Representing Region 3 in the USA Softball All American Games, this 2031 prospect continued to elevate her game against elite competition throughout the summer. She also challenged herself by guest playing in the 18U division at the Backwards K Tournament, where she more than held her own against older players. She finished the event with an impressive .500 batting average, a .571 on-base percentage, and a 1.571 OPS, demonstrating maturity and confidence well beyond her age. A standout shortstop, she anchors the infield with smooth actions, dependable hands, and outstanding consistency, rarely making mistakes defensively. Her work ethic separates her from many of her peers, as she dedicates herself in the weight room to become stronger, faster, and more explosive. That commitment is translating directly onto the field, where her athleticism and all-around skill set continue to improve.     Piper Malone emerged as one of the most dangerous offensive threats in the 2031 class this summer, consistently producing against quality competition while showcasing legitimate game-changing power. Competing in some of the nation's toughest tournaments, she punctuated her season by launching her third home run at Scenic City, further cementing her reputation as a hitter who is capable of changing the momentum of a game with one swing. Malone finished the season with a .536 batting average, .596 on-base percentage, and 1.417 OPS, proving she is far more than just a power hitter. She consistently barrels up the softball, reaches base at a high rate, and produces in key situations. She also contributed in the circle, logging 32.2 innings with 39 strikeouts while giving her team valuable pitching depth.     Alexia Gurtler proved to be one of the most dynamic two-way athletes in the 2031 class this summer, making an impact with her arm, bat, and speed. Playing for Athletics Mercado 2031 Gold Wicks, the lefthander was highly effective in the circle, recording 17 strikeouts while limiting opponents to a .182 batting average and posting a 1.25 WHIP. At the plate, she hit .583 with four RBI and three stolen bases, using her elite speed to consistently pressure opposing defenses. She also brings versatility by excelling in center field when she is not pitching, giving her team another dependable defender in the outfield. Gurtler continues to invest in her development, reaching a personal best of 61 mph in June, which is a testament to the work she puts in.
