Between the fall and winter seasons, she batted .632 with an on-base percentage of .696. Back in February, her team earned a 7-2 victory over CW Edge 14U. Schlais was instrumental in that victory, as she plated a pair of runs throughout her three at-bats. Those two runs were courtesy of a fourth inning double on a 2-1 count. Schlais also had herself a big day back in mid-October as her team blanked SE MN Flyers 14U by a final score of 12-0. Schlais drove in a pair of runs and also had a triple and a double as part of her day.

We at Prep Softball recently spotlighted Taylor Monroe as one of our eighth-grade prospects to watch throughout Michigan. Monroe just earned an All-American nod and will represent the Great Lakes region this summer in Florida. She wears the Michigan Sabercats 13U Foster uniform, and in a recent 7-4 Sabercats victory, Monroe aided her team's cause with a second-inning RBI single. Monroe was also credited with an RBI when her Sabercats prevailed in a 7-2 win over Elite 13U Holzgen in mid-November. Defensively, she primarily plays center field, but can also operate as a utility player who thrives at the plate as a left-handed slapper.

It is conventional wisdom to believe pitchers are not exactly the best run producers when they step into the batter's box. But, that is not the case when it comes to Addison Steffen. She will occasionally hit cleanup in the order for FL Firecrackers Williams/Slavik 2030, which is a testament to how confident her coaches are that she will get the job done for her team with runners on base. Steffen participated in an offensive onslaught in mid-April against Florida Bombers Gold MC 14U with an RBI as part of a 13-1 contest, in which 12 of those runs were tallied in the first inning. Steffen had only one at-bat in a 5-1 victory against Windermere Wildfire 14U Emidy, and it resulted in one of those runs being scored.

Ahriyia Brown has also regularly found herself hitting fourth in the order for her Hamilton MS team. In late April, she and her team faced off against Monroe and it resulted in an 8-6 victory for Hamilton. The first run of the game was plated by Brown, as she delivered an RBI single with a runner on third to give Hamilton a 1-0 lead. Brown also proved to be a difficult out a few days before, when Hamilton matched up against the squad from Talawanda MS. An offensive slugfest went the way of Hamilton by a final score of 15-10, and Brown aided her team's cause with a pair of RBIs as well as two singles, two runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base.

Reese Halloran was recognized by Prep Softball back in October as a top prospect to watch in Virginia's 2030 class. She is a multi-sport athlete who also partakes in track events, alongside her softball accomplishments. Late last month, her 5 Star National 29/30 Crawford 14U team defeated the Virginia Bombers by a final score of 8-5. In the bottom of the third with two runners in scoring position in that contest, Halloran laid down a sacrifice bunt that was meant to score one run, but it actually plated two on a wild throw to make what was a 5-3 Bombers lead into a 5-5 tie. A Halloran RBI single in the top of the fourth in mid-March against the Williamsburg Revolution 14U also helped her 5 Star National 29/30 team to a 9-3 victory.

Anyone familiar with the game of softball knows the middle of a batting order is built for impact. At the top, speed sets the tone, with players who can get on base and quickly turn opportunities into scoring chances for their teams.
