With advanced bat-to-ball skills and a disciplined approach, they continue to prove that making contact and competing every pitch can be just as impactful as power.   Below, Prep Softball highlights six hitters from the high school graduating class of 2031 who consistently put the ball in play.    Shelby Frye is a 2031 outfielder and catcher who's a reliable contact hitter who brings consistency and production to the heart of the lineup. Batting in the No. 3 spot, she consistently delivers quality at-bats. She demonstrates advanced barrel control and the ability to drive line drives to all fields. Frye rarely gives away an at-bat, pairing her approach with strong strike zone awareness and discipline. She continues to lead the lineup in key offensive categories. With her strong situational awareness, she's a tough out every time she steps in the box. Her ability to execute in big moments makes her even more formidable. Gaby Maltbie is another 2031 prospect who's a true high-contact hitter, consistently putting the ball in play and pressuring defenses. She is a standout player for the Ohio Lasers team, excelling both offensively and defensively. In the fall, she achieved a .406 batting average and a .431 on-base percentage, showcasing her strong contact skills. Even more impressively, Maltbie recorded a 100% contact rate across 77 plate appearances. With her exceptional ability to make contact and growing power, she continues to position herself as a dependable and significant offensive threat to watch.     Kennedy Keel is a standout for Texas Blaze 14U who continues to prove herself as one of the toughest outs at the plate in her class. She combines an elite contact approach with strong production, consistently putting the ball in play and pressuring defenses. Over the summer, she hit an impressive .553 with 88 hits in 179 plate appearances, striking out just 13 times. She carried that momentum into the fall season, hitting .415, and followed it up with a .476 average in the spring, recording only one strikeout. With her ability to rack up hits and control the zone, Kennedy Keel is the definition of a high-level contact hitter. She creates runs with both her bat and speed, making her someone college coaches need to watch.     Livvy Canfield, a standout player from the class of 2031, is an exceptional contact hitter who continues to demonstrate growth and consistency at the plate. She has excellent vision and rarely gives away an at-bat, striking out only 6 times in 139 appearances. Canfield achieved an impressive batting average of .510 and an on-base percentage of .630. She led her team in both categories as well as in RBIs. Her ability to consistently make contact, get on base, and drive in runs makes her one of the most reliable and disciplined hitters in her class. Livvy Canfield is ready to showcase the same abilities and statistics entering the summer season.     Carly-Rose Ma'Afala, a 2031 outfielder for LV Rising Thomason 14U, is emerging as a true five-tool prospect and one of the most dependable players in her lineup. She's a tough out at the plate, combining gap-to-gap power with speed. Her advanced hand-eye coordination allows her to consistently barrel up the ball. In 68 at-bats, she's hitting .429, including four triples, showcasing her ability to do damage at the plate and create extra-base hits. She thrives in big moments, collecting 26 RBIs while striking out just four times all season. This highlights her discipline and ability to compete every at-bat. Carly-Rose Ma'Afala is expected to maintain her consistent performance throughout the summer season and continue to be a standout.     Kyla Adkins is a skilled pitcher and an excellent contact hitter who reliably gets on base. She approaches the plate with discipline, demonstrating strong bat-to-ball skills and the ability to drive the ball for extra bases. During the fall season, Adkins achieved an impressive batting average of .538, along with a .617 on-base percentage. She recorded 10 doubles, 9 triples, and 4 home runs. She also collected 46 RBIs, scored 40 runs, and drew 17 walks, showcasing her ability to produce runs and extend at-bats. Kyla Adkins combines power and consistency at the plate, making her a constant threat in the lineup.
