Under-The-Radar Pennsylvania 2029s Poised To Break Out

Hempfield, a known powerhouse in the WPIAL, will be lucky to be able to add her to its staff this coming spring. Her ability to spin the ball and throw this hard as a freshman is quite impressive and will be no match for the competition she will face this high school season. Aside from her pitching talent, she is a true lefty slapper with a lot of speed. She has the ability and quickness to beat out a soft slap to the shortstop, making her very hard to defend against. At 5'11", with a fastball reaching up to 66 mph, this is not something you see often, especially out of a freshman. Aside from that, Lexi also has an impressive changeup that is not easily detectable out of her hand. If she is able to execute these pitches well, along with the others in her arsenal, she is also going to be very hard for hitters to face this spring. Not only does she excel in softball, but she also was just named to the 2026 5A girls basketball All-Section Second Team. With a very smooth righty swing that combines power and speed, she has had a lot of success at the plate. While she easily hits singles, a lot of of her hits are extra-base hits, along with a few home runs. Having the ability to be fast, powerful, and athletic is not something everyone can say they have, but it is what makes Maiers such an amazing player. [player_tooltip player_id='156858' first='Riley' last='Geyer'] has one of the most effective and deliberate swings I have seen out of a freshman in recent years. With the ability to go oppo and leg out a triple, she has a lot of tools that will be hard to defend against at the high school level. Behind the plate, she has great instincts and will pick runners off with ease. From the left side, she has the ability to slap, drag bunt, hit away, and get down the line quickly. She is an extremely tough out who can also hit for power, and poses a consistent threat to go deep. Finding a speedy slapper who is also able to hit for power is not common, and she does both extremely well. She improved her pop time from a 1.81 to a 1.68 earlier this year in January. She has also done some great work training with her teammates, which is displayed on her X account. The work that she's done will ensure that she has a great season this spring, with the ability to steal bases, hit singles and doubles, and serve as a strong defender for her team.
