Arizona's 2028 class features a strong group of under-the-radar athletes ready for breakout high school seasons. While they may not all carry early recognition, their consistency, competitiveness, and steady development have positioned them to make an immediate impact.   With growing confidence and the ability to deliver in big moments, these 2028s are poised to turn heads across Arizona this season.    Jourdyn "Jojo" Adsuara is a proven infielder and utility player for 520 Ballerz and Casa Grande Union High School, making an immediate varsity impact as a freshman. She hit .532 with 42 hits. Her fall club season continued that momentum, batting .409 while only striking out three times in 44 at-bats, highlighting her elite contact and gap-to-gap ability. Adsuara's versatility on defense allows her to compete in various spots to help her team. Adsuara's impressive stats reflect her consistent performance, competitive maturity, and steady growth on the field.     Amaya Romero is a sophomore at Liberty High School, entering her second varsity season with the goal of making an even bigger impact. As a strong and reliable shortstop, she demonstrates leadership, smooth glove work, and great range needed to control the middle infield. Her versatility allows her to transition seamlessly into other positions and showcase her athleticism while maintaining defensive strength. Her batting improved this fall with extra work, and she's ready for the high school season. Amaya Romero will continue to showcase her hard work with the Arizona Storm Skaggs team on both sides of the ball this spring.     Catherine Sztan, also known as Peaches, is a dynamic second baseman and outfielder who brings speed, versatility, and offensive energy to the Lady Lancers of Salpointe Catholic High School. As a quick and aggressive slapper, she can also swing with power, finding ways to constantly bring pressure to the defense with her ability to get on base and turn singles into scoring opportunities. Once on base, her speed becomes a true asset, enabling her to shift the momentum in her team's favor. Defensively, she excels at second base, demonstrating smooth footwork and strong awareness. She transitions seamlessly to the outfield, where her range shines. Sztan's energy and ability to ignite an offense make her a player to watch this spring.     Carsyn Newpower is an outstanding catcher and corner infielder for Athletics Mercado AZ Hess 16U and the Mountain View High School softball team. She impacts the game on both sides of the ball. In 47 plate appearances, she showed patience and discipline at the plate. Defensively, Newpower is steady and reliable behind the plate and at the corners, showcasing her arm strength and leadership. She had 68 putouts in 78 total chances, showcasing her reliability. Her coaches praise Newpower for her great attitude and team-first mindset on the field and in practice. A mature competitor, Carsyn Newpower is ready to take her energy and strong performance into her second season of high school ball as a starter.     Jocelyn Thompson is a standout athlete at North Canyon High School, where she maintains an impressive 3.8 GPA. As a catcher and corner infielder, Thompson demonstrates a powerful swing and consistently produces at the plate. This winter, she showcased her offensive skills by hitting .625 during a tournament, collecting 10 hits and 12 RBIs, which significantly contributed to her team's success. Defensively, she is known for her strong, accurate arm. With a pop time of 1.8 seconds, she can confidently and efficiently throw out baserunners. Jocelyn Thompson combines power with defensive skills, making her a standout player this high school season.     Corinne Rodgers is poised for an impressive sophomore season at Valley Christian High School in Chandler. After joining the Rising Ramirez 16U team this fall, she led the team with a .451 batting average, 41 hits, and 2 home runs in 99 plate appearances. She has a strong combination of contact-hitting skills and developing power at the plate. Her high school team expects her to play both second base and in the outfield. Rodgers showcases a quick first step and a strong arm in both the infield and outfield. Rodgers demonstrates excellent reliability on both sides of the ball, as well as speed on the bases. Her team is favored to compete for the 3A state title because of its overall strength. As the high school season begins, Corinne Rodgers is a player to keep an eye on in the 2028 class.     Addi Wild is a right-handed pitcher and corner infielder who is set to make a significant impact for the Lady Lancers this season. In the circle, Wild demonstrates competitiveness and composure, confidently approaching hitters and working the strike zone with her varied pitches. She demonstrates confidence in the circle, which helps lead her team through games. When she is not pitching, she may play third base. She brings strength and stability to the infield with her reliable glove work and strong arm across the diamond. At the plate, Wild is a powerful presence in the lineup, and she is capable of driving the ball to all parts of the field and producing in key situations. Addi Wild's ability to contribute both as a pitcher and hitter makes her a valuable two-way asset this high school season.     Jordan Peterson is a standout at Casteel High School, consistently improving her skills through extra practice, whether in the weight room or during batting practice. Her strong work ethic, coachability, and team-first mentality shine every time she steps up to bat. Peterson showcases a simple offensive approach, consistently producing quality at-bats and hitting line drives. As a contact hitter, she excels at getting on base, moving runners, and delivering in clutch situations. Defensively, her impressive speed and explosive first step allow her to cover ground quickly. As she gains more varsity experience, Jordan Peterson is becoming a strong prospect in the 2028 class.     Kyleigh Nekula is a dependable middle infielder who consistently strengthens her team defensively. She excels as a shortstop, second baseman, and third baseman, but she is always ready to step in wherever her team needs her. Nekula's polished footwork and ability to read the ball off the bat make her plays look routine, and her strong arm allows her to get runners out with confidence. At the plate, she brings a consistent bat with good power, making her a reliable offensive contributor. She prides herself on being coachable, hardworking, and a true team player who brings intensity and focus to every game she plays in. Kyleigh Nekula's discipline and leadership skills, as well as her strong skill set, will carry over into the spring season with her Crimson High School varsity softball team.
