Top 2029 Prospects To Watch In Georgia

Another fall high school softball season is about to conclude in Georgia. The upcoming state tournament is front and center on the minds of many prospects across the Peach State.    As the quest to Columbus commences for many teams, we at Prep Softball decided to look back at the last few months of play. Every season sees the emergence of freshmen who establish themselves as names to remember for the future, and the 2025 campaign was no different.   Below, Prep Softball highlights six of the top 2029 prospects from Georgia to watch in the coming months and years.      The Tigers of 3A Dawson County recently completed their regular season with a 21-9 record. Kaelyn Utech is a huge reason why Dawson County managed a three-win improvement over last year. Among Georgia freshmen, she ranks in the top 10 in batting average at .529. And it is not as if she is working from a small sample size, as Utech has had 113 appearances at the plate. We featured Utech as a freshman who can turn a single into a triple. She is typically a slapper, but she slugged her first-ever home run in a 5-3 win over region rival Lumpkin County in mid-September.      A standout from the private school ranks, Cordtney Galoia is a threat to take pitchers deep whenever she steps into the batter's box. Galoia leads Stratford Academy in home runs with nine, and that total has her tied for the statewide lead among freshmen. We featured Galoia as a <a href="https://prepsoftball.com/2025/09/08/five-2029s-with-power-beyond-their-age/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">2029 who has power beyond her age</a>. Galoia has also posted a batting average of .480 with 29 RBIs (ranked third statewide among freshmen) and 21 runs scored. Three doubles are also part of Galoia's resume for 2025. Galoia is a multi-sport athlete who has also participated in track and field competitions—such as the shot put—in addition to her softball accolades.      Trinity Hargrett comes from a 5A Northgate program that has seen itself in the win column more often than not these past several years. The Vikings have Hargrett's bat in large part to thank for their 23-7 season, not to mention that they ran the table against region foes. When there are runners on base, Hargrett can be counted on to ensure they are brought home. She ranks second among Peach State freshmen in RBIs with 33. She has also batted .453 with seven home runs. Hargrett and her Northgate team will be heading into the 5A state tournament after winning the 100th game in the coaching career of Carleigh Baker.      The regular season is in the rear-view mirror for Addy Barber and her 1A Division 2 Clinch County team, and it concluded with the Panthers compiling a record of 17-7. Barber ranks second among freshmen in Georgia in earned run average with a 3.12 mark. She is also in the top 10 among freshmen pitchers statewide in strikeouts with 80. Barber has been a force to be reckoned with both in the circle and at the dish—she's batting .441 with six home runs (tied for fourth among Georgia freshmen hitters) and 28 RBIs. Barber's 2025 season has also included seven doubles and three triples.      Kaelynn Sweger is a multi-sport athlete who, in addition to playing softball, is also successfully trying her hand at flag football. The swagger of Sweger has made things very difficult for opposing hitters. She has struck out 106 batters this season, which ranks third among Georgia freshmen. In fact, she is one of only three 2029s who have reached the century mark in strikeouts. In addition, she has only walked 24 batters. Sweger is another player who has gotten the job done with both her arm and her bat. She has posted a .465 average with 18 runs driven in—both of which are team-leading marks among her Heritage squad.      This regular season saw 3A Gilmer compile nearly as many wins as the Bobcats had in the last three seasons combined. Braley Stewart's right arm was a huge factor in Gilmer putting together its first double-digit winning campaign since the COVID year of 2020. There is a six-way tie among Peach State freshmen for wins, and Stewart is in that group with five victories in the circle. Stewart has only allowed 16 walks to 93 strikeouts, with the latter number having her ranked fifth among Georgia 2029s in that category. Her work in the circle is complemented by her work at the plate, as evidenced by her .424 batting average, 13 doubles, seven triples and 27 RBIs.
