With August having arrived and the academic calendar now underway in a number of states, the summer softball season for 2025 has reached its end. The high school softball season is also beginning in the few states where softball is played as a fall sport, such as Georgia, Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska and Colorado.

August is a great time to preview the upcoming season in those states as well as look back on noteworthy prospects who brought their hitting, pitching and fielding skills to the travel realm in a big way this summer.

Without further ado, here are six names of note who shined brightly during summer ball.

The Top Gun program is one of the premier travel softball organizations in the nation, and Emme Aslan is another reason why that is the case. Aslan had herself a noteworthy time on the summer circuit, as she batted .402 with a slugging percentage of .928. Her performance also included nine home runs, nine doubles and 39 RBIs. Last season, which was her junior campaign with Harmony, she posted a .397 average with seven home runs and 25 RBIs in the 25 games she played with the Longhorns. She is a multi-sport athlete who has also played basketball and volleyball throughout her career. She was originally set to head to Iowa following her senior season at Harmony, but has since reopened her recruitment.

When the 2025 summer campaign commenced for Scarlette Tegtman, she was fresh off helping her Crown Point team to a 4A state championship. That momentum carried her into the club season, and then some. A Chicago-area product of Beverly Bandits Premier Trackwell/Meredith 16U, she hit .545 in her first tournament following the Bulldogs' state triumph. In mid-July at the Easton Rawlings Invitational in the Chicago area, she went 10-for-18 while posting an average of .556. Overall, she hit .453 during the summer season with 16 stolen bases. Tegtman hit .473 last season with Crown Point and is set to embark on her collegiate odyssey with Providence following the 2026 season.

We now turn our attention from who left pitchers guessing to who left batters guessing. Seeing Kaylee Hodges in the circle more often than not meant poor luck for those at the dish. Hodges is a Virginia prospect who played for Team North Carolina Bowman based in Winston-Salem. She hurled over 130 innings while allowing only 17 walks and fanning 171 hitters. Hodges also concluded her 2025 campaign with an ERA of 1.27. Her summer included helping Team North Carolina Bowman to a co-championship at Atlanta Legacy, where she was acknowledged as one of Prep Softball's 2027 Top Performers at the event.

Lily Brewer played the bulk of her summer campaign with So Cal Athletics Premier 2026- Kennedy. She then competed at PGF Nationals as a guest player playing up in class with VA Glory National 18U. During her time with her primary club squad, she had an ERA of 1.44 while pitching 82 innings and allowing only 11 walks with 111 strikeouts. A highlight of her travel schedule occurred at the Show Me The Money invite, where her team finished as runners-up among 16U teams. Last season, her 7A Auburn team finished 26-6. She went 9-4 with a 1.99 ERA while throwing 91.2 innings, allowing only 32 walks and 26 earned runs with 133 strikeouts.

We at Prep Softball hailed Brooklyn Manning as a name that was transitioning to stardom last month during the latter portions of the travel season. Manning wore the TX Cy-Fair Intruders 16U Barnes uniform during the summer. She threw 122.2 innings with 80 strikeouts. Noteworthy performances from her summer season included hurling 23.1 innings with 10 strikeouts and a 1.80 ERA at the Southwest Summer Nationals in Austin. Manning struck out 18 batters while throwing 23 innings at the Texas Fastpitch League Summer Championship in Plano. The 2025 version of Cypress Ranch finished 18-9 and secured a berth in the 6A Division 1 state tournament. The Mustangs will likely continue to be in the win column more often than not with Manning continuing to sport the Cypress Ranch gold and navy blue hues.

Nola Hazard is a three-sport athlete who also competes in volleyball and hockey alongside her softball accomplishments. She wore the uniform of the Mankato Peppers this summer season. Hazard posted an average of .385 while plating 40 runs. She had the same number of hits as she did RBIs, including 10 doubles and three triples. Hazard also stole nine bases throughout the summer and is defying conventional wisdom by doing damage at the plate, while also co-anchoring her team's battery as a catcher. She can now look ahead to the 2026 campaign with Chanhassen. The Storm finished last season with a record of 13-6, which was its winningest season in four years.
