Five Prospects With Something To Prove This Summer

A veteran standout who can play at either first or third base, she was one of the leading hitters in the state of Oklahoma among 2026s. During the 2024 season, as softball is played during the fall in Oklahoma, Overton posted a .473 batting average with eight home runs and 14 doubles in 125 appearances at the plate. Whitt's Seckinger team competes as a 5A school and is one of the newer schools in the Peach State. The Jaguars have made waves in Georgia's highly-competitive softball landscape in large part because of Whitt's play. Whitt had a career season in 2024 by playing in 36 games and posting a batting average of .509. She had the same amount of doubles as she did home runs with 14. Perhaps the presence of Dalyce Scrivener, who will be returning for her senior season at Strafford, has given her team an added boost. Scrivener was tied for third last season in RBIs in Missouri with 52, and led all 2026s in that category. She is a multi-sport athlete who has also competed in track and field events alongside her softball accolades. In addition to driving in runs, Scrivener also finished last season with 16 home runs, including three contests in which she sent multiple pitches over the outfield fence. The past couple seasons have seen the Mustangs finish with a combined record of 59-16. This included the previous season where Pokorny concluded with a 15-4 record plus an ERA of 2.37. The Mustangs advanced to the Class A state championship game only to suffer defeat at the hands of Gretna by a final score of 8-0. In addition to playing softball, she also competes in track and field and basketball at Lyons, and all at the varsity level. A bright pitching and first base prospect out of Colorado, Wynja led all Centennial State hurlers in strikeouts with 230. In her 27 pitching appearances last season, Wynja compiled a 17-9 record along with an ERA of 2.21. The Lions concluded the 2024 season with a mark of 18-9 and advanced to the quarterfinals of last season's state tournament. She also greatly helped her team at the plate as evidenced by her .383 batting average, .704 slugging percentage and 11 doubles. Lyons will be in search of even deeper runs in postseason play over the next couple seasons and is primed to do so thanks to Wynja's bat and right arm.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
