With clutch hits, rocket arms, and leadership well beyond their years, these six breakout catchers from the class of 2026 are quickly establishing themselves as names to watch this season.    Ellie Procunier continues to be a driving force for Tonopah Valley, delivering standout performances both at the plate and behind it. In a recent game, Ellie showcased her offensive dominance by going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs scored, leading her team to a crucial win. Her consistency and ability to produce under pressure were on full display again, as she followed up with a 3-for-4 outing that included her first double of the season and two more runs scored. At the time of this writing, Ellie currently leads her team in RBI with 19 and is batting an incredible .700 with a .750 on-base percentage—numbers that speak to her elite plate discipline, situational awareness, and power potential. Her presence in the lineup is a constant threat, and her leadership behind the plate provides a strong foundation for her defense. Behind the plate, Meredith has been flawless, boasting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage—proof of her reliability, strong game awareness, and leadership on defense. At the plate, she's been just as impressive. Batting .692 with an eye-popping .784 on-base percentage, Meredith is a constant threat to get on base and make something happen. She's coming off her best performance of the season in a dominant win over Green Sea Floyds, where she went 3-for-4 with two home runs, four runs scored, and four RBI. Those home runs were her first of the season and marked a new career-high for her in runs scored. Earlier in the week, she continued to shine, going 2-for-2 and scoring two runs in another big win, further solidifying her role as a key contributor in Hannah-Pamplico's success. Meredith Stone is the total package behind the dish—a rock-solid defender, a dangerous bat in the lineup, and a fierce competitor. Cienna Hernandez continues to assert herself as one of the most dominant forces in high school softball this season. A powerhouse both at the plate and behind it, Cienna turned in one of her best performances of the year at the start of April, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a home run, two triples, and six RBI. Offensively, Cienna is a game-changer. At the time of this writing, she held a stellar .571 batting average and a .643 on-base percentage, with an eye-popping 12 home runs and 42 RBI on the season. Whether it's with her power, speed, or clutch hitting, she consistently produces and commands attention every time she steps into the batter's box. Defensively, she's just as impressive. With a .981 fielding percentage and 86 putouts, Cienna provides stability and leadership behind the plate. Earlier this month, Hailey delivered her biggest game of the year, reaching base in all four plate appearances, blasting a home run, swiping two bases, and driving in five runs. It was her most stolen bases in a single game since February and part of an impressive streak—she's now recorded at least one steal in each of her last three games. What truly sets Hailey apart is her rare blend of power and speed. With an eye-popping 1.707 slugging percentage and 11 home runs, she's a nightmare matchup for opposing pitchers. Her ability to turn any at-bat into an extra-base hit, while also being aggressive on the basepaths, gives her team a major edge. Defensively, Hailey brings the toughness and leadership every great catcher needs. She manages the game with confidence, communicates well with her teammates, and holds her own behind the plate. Hailey Jones-Calais is a complete player—she's explosive, smart, and relentless. Leona-Klaire Stokes has proven herself to be one of the premier talents in Mississippi high school softball, combining clutch performance, elite athleticism, and strong leadership behind the plate. Her outstanding week earned her the title of Mississippi High School Player of the Week on March 25th—and for good reason. In just three games, Stokes batted an impressive .667, collecting three singles, a double, a triple, and a home run, while also driving in two runs and scoring five herself. Her week was highlighted by a walk-off double to secure a thrilling 3-2 win over Itawamba Agricultural—a moment that perfectly captures her ability to shine under pressure. She capped off that incredible stretch by breaking her school's all-time hits record, reaching 136 career hits, a milestone that cements her place in program history. Offensively, Leona brings a dangerous combination of contact, power, and speed. She's racked up 26 stolen bases this season and has left the park eight times, showing she's just as capable of manufacturing runs as she is of driving them in. Defensively, she's rock-solid behind the dish with a .991 fielding percentage, showcasing her reliability, game management, and defensive awareness. Her ability to command the field and work with pitchers makes her an invaluable asset in every game. Leona-Klaire Stokes is the total package—she's a record-breaking catcher with game-changing speed, serious pop in her bat, and elite defensive instincts. In a key game this February, Stevens delivered a clutch performance, going 1-for-2, scoring a run, and driving in three, which marked her highest single-game RBI total since March 2024. Her timely hitting helped secure the win and showed her ability to produce in big moments. Defensively, Avery is a wall behind the plate. With a perfect fielding percentage, she consistently displays sharp instincts, quick reactions, and strong leadership, making her one of the most dependable high school catchers in the game.
