Top 2028 Prospects To Watch In Arizona

<p>Arizona's 2028 softball prospects reflect a promising generation of young talent, with athletes already gaining recognition at both local and national levels. This group includes elite catchers, dynamic hitters, and speedy outfielders who excel on the diamond.</p>   <p>Below, Prep Softball highlights five of the top softball prospects from Arizona in the high school graduating class of 2028.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Arizona Rising</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Isabella Mora is an outstanding catcher and utility player from Willow Canyon High School. She is also a key Arizona Rising Kobasew/Appel team member. Mora maintains a 3.8 GPA, showcasing her dedication to being a student-athlete. In the fall season, she recorded 141 putouts and achieved a .458 batting average in 42 games. She consistently showcases her arm strength behind the plate and her power with a bat in her hands. When she is not behind the plate, Mora can be found at various positions on the diamond, as she is a versatile athlete. She played a crucial role for her club team, which finished as the runner-up at the 12U Premier PGF Nationals in 2023 and secured fifth place in the Colorado National Power Pool in 2024. Known for her quiet confidence and relentless work ethic, Mora stands out as an exceptional athlete and leads by example. Her leadership, commitment as a student-athlete, and strong work ethic will serve her well at the next level.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Jaiden Stell is another talented catcher for the Arizona Rising Kabasew/Appel team. She attends Verrado High School and maintains a 3.6 GPA. Stell has been playing for Arizona Rising for five seasons, and helped the team reach the PGF Nationals championship game in 2022 and 2023, and in 2024, helped the squad finish fifth in the Colorado National Power Pool. A standout left-handed player behind the plate, Stell showcases her strong softball IQ and ability to throw runners out. She possesses one of the best gloves on her team, and plays first base when she is not behind the plate. Throughout 43 games, she hit 13 home runs, batted .411, and maintained an on-base percentage of .545. Stell's versatility as an athlete and dedication as a student will significantly benefit her in finding a future home.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Takoah Jones is a standout infielder, showcasing her skills as a shortstop, second baseman, and third baseman. Jones attends Desert Vista High School, maintaining a 3.8 GPA. She has significantly contributed to her team, helping the squad reach the PGF Nationals championship game in 2022 and 2023 and finish fifth in the 2024 Colorado National Power Pool. Her keen game awareness and composed demeanor make her a reliable teammate. Jones displays quick footwork in the field and is a strong left-handed hitter, recording 34 hits during the fall season. In addition to her athletic achievements and dedication, she is an excellent teammate who inspires others through her quiet leadership and genuine enthusiasm for their successes. Jones's versatility, power hitting, and focus as a student-athlete make a great combination in helping her find a future home.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Arizona Hotshots</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Claire Jackson is a standout player for the Arizona Hotshots 16U team. She attends Pinnacle High School, where she maintains a 4.0 GPA. Although Jackson is one of the youngest players on the Hotshots, she demonstrates exceptional leadership skills despite her age. Jackson's dedication to practices, lessons, and watching film has contributed significantly to her team's success, helping her squad earn a bid to the Alliance 16U Nationals. Jackson is recognized for her leadership, strong voice, and arm strength in throwing out runners. Her hard work and coachability earned her the Warrior Award at the Gear Up Winter Catching Camp. Jackson's dedication and achievements reflect her passion for being a successful student-athlete at the next level.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Preslie Odenberg, known as Odie on the field, is an outstanding player for the Arizona Hotshots. She is currently a Desert Vista High School student, maintaining a 4.0 GPA. As an outfielder and second baseman, she shows impressive speed with a 2.8-second time from home to first base and exceptional hitting skills. Odenberg, a powerful left-handed hitter, boasts a .468 batting average and a .545 on-base percentage, including three triples. Her defensive skills are equally remarkable—she regularly makes spectacular plays, whether tracking deep fly balls, diving to make a catch in the gap, or throwing out runners. As she and her team prepare for Alliance Nationals this summer, her contributions will undoubtedly be vital to her team's success. Odenberg's skills, dedication, and enthusiasm will greatly benefit her as she prepares for all that is ahead at the next level.</p>
