Top 2028 Prospects To Watch In Texas

Texas is one of the biggest states in the country and produces several of the best softball players every year. The Longhorn State's class of 2028 is no exception. Prospects across the state are producing elite performances at the high school and club levels.   Below, Prep Softball highlights six of the top softball players in Texas from the high school graduating class of 2028.    Allison Bezanilla is a talented player at Langham Creek High School. She shines as a right-handed second baseman and utility player. She uses her strength and quickness at second to make hard plays look easy. Allison has quick hands and a sharp throw, making her a defensive standout. She has fine-tuned her abilities against elite-level competition while playing with Hotshots National. Highlighted by her skills, she was invited to the 2024 USA HPP National Selection Camp. Academically, Allison is a diligent student. Her steady presence on the Honor Roll is a testament to her hard work on and off the diamond. Even though she's just a freshman, Allison has already made a name for herself. She earned the 2024 Athletic Award at her high school. These characteristics make her an outstanding competitor, and any collegiate program would be lucky to have a versatile player like her.     Michaela Landers is an elite middle infielder at Waxahachie High School. Her glove work is top-tier and her outstanding softball IQ makes her one of the best in her class. Michaela plays against first-class competition with her Texas Bombers Gold team. She played a key role in helping her squad win the 14U Alliance Nationals. Michaela consistently hones her skills in her free time by working at home and with instructors. Her hard work is evident in her outcomes on the field. She was chosen as a USA HPP Top Performer in 2023 and 2024 as well as a USA All-American. Michaela is a lefty power hitter with speed. Her fall club stats speak for themselves, as she batted .571, with an on-base percentage of .609, and posted 10 doubles, 8 triples, and 9 home runs. Her abilities would impact any collegiate program in the best way.     Aliyah Moore is a formidable hitter and corner infielder at Shadow Creek High School. She has a beautifully fluid and powerful swing capable of hitting to all parts of the field. At the corners, she's a vacuum because of her swift glove and quick feet. Aliyah plays with the Bombers Gold American, one of the top organizations in the country. She has made a name for herself and was invited to the HPP USA National Selection Event. There, she was named a 2024 HPP USA Top Performer. Her incredible skills also earned her a spot on the AGL All-Tournament team. Aliyah consistently shows commitment, outstanding technique, and leadership on and off the field. She would be a great match for any collegiate program looking for a hard-working and dedicated athlete. She shines as a right-handed pitcher in the circle and as a big power hitter at the plate. Tara plays club ball with Impact Gold Jazz, competing in top-level tournaments across the nation. Her abilities are second to none and her accolades are a testament to her skills. Tara is a two-time USA HPP Top Performer, a USA All-American, and a Softball Factory All-American. She is a versatile athlete, also playing basketball and volleyball for her school. Offensively, Tara packs a punch with a big swing that allows her to consistently hit for power. When she isn't making waves in the circle, she can be found playing the corners. Tara is a goal-oriented player who works extremely hard to accomplish her goals. She would be a fantastic addition to any collegiate program's bullpen.     Makenzie Thomas is a savvy shortstop at Clear Springs High School. She sharpens her abilities with the Impact Gold Jazz, competing at a high level and developing her game. Another way she honed her skills is by attending top collegiate camps at Texas, Houston, and Auburn. Makenzie was recognized as a USA HPP Top Performer in 2023 and 2024, as well as a Minority Softball Prospect All-American, USA Softball All-American, and AGL Top Performer. These honors identify her as one of the best players in the 2028 class. Offensively, she demonstrates discipline at the plate with vigor and pitch recognition. She is capable of hitting for power and average, and consistently knocks balls over the fence. Makenzie's capability, devotion, and work ethic set her apart from other shortstops her age.     Julyssa Gonzalez is a solid catcher at Heights High School. Her blocking skills and strong arm highlight her abilities behind the plate. Julyssa has a strong presence on the field and consistently works hard for her pitchers. You can catch her developing in the offseason through camps, private hitting instruction, and private catching instruction. Julyssa competes at a premier level of competition with the Texas Bombers Academy. She has a winning mindset and excels at being a team player. She is a vocal leader and is in control of the field on defense. Not only is she a star on the field, but also in the classroom. Academically, Julyssa maintains a 4.3 GPA, making her a standout in myriad ways.
