Look around the Hoosier State and lately you'll find a wealth of pitching talent. Indianapolis' own Keagan Rothrock is thriving for the Florida Gators, and now two more Indiana hurlers, [player_tooltip player_id='89566' first='Berkley' last='Zache'] from South Bend and Audrey Lowry from Lizton, are set to debut in Oklahoma Sooner uniforms this coming spring. There is no sign that the trend will stop anytime soon, especially considering some of the players you'll read about below.

Here are five of the top 2027 college softball prospects to watch in Indiana.

Right on the northwest border of Indiana and Illinois you'll find Munster—home of the Mustangs and hard-hitting sophomore Ally Compton. She had an explosive freshman season, hitting 15 bombs (seven of them in the season's last six games), which was good for a program record and the third highest total in the state. With her seven doubles, over half of her hits for the season were of the extra-base variety. She can also deliver in the circle, striking out 78 batters this past spring. She has power to all fields and is truly the last batter a pitcher wants to see up in a tight game. Voted the team's most valuable player in her freshman season, it's hard to imagine what she has in store for an encore.

Elliott was simply sensational in the circle for the Class A state champion Rossville Hornets. The sophomore only allowed four earned runs all season in 57 innings pitched for a 9-0 record and an astounding 0.49 ERA. She continued her dominance in the postseason, striking out 14 batters in a six-inning complete-game performance in sectionals against South Newton. Along with senior Avery Layton, the two hurlers combined to surrender only 49 runs all season. Don't forget about her bat either—she hit three triples and three doubles during her freshman campaign, driving in 16. With her in the circle again this season, look for Rossville to make another postseason run with Elliott playing a big role on the team.

The righthander Humphries had a freshman season to remember. The hurler went 16-4 this past spring, with a 1.03 ERA to lead all of Central Indiana, along with 195 strikeouts. She allowed only 17 earned runs all season and held opponents to a .164 batting average. She was named The Herald Bulletin's Softball Pitcher of the Year and received First-Team All-Conference honors for her performance. She also hit nine doubles and had a .380 batting average for good measure. If all of this was just a warmup, it will be fun to watch what her sophomore campaign brings.

A single is great because it gets you on base. However, Zigler tends to prefer two-baggers instead. The sophomore finished her freshman campaign with 20 doubles, along with 12 home runs, and also collected 49 RBIs. Her .491 batting average led her conference, earning her First-Team All-Conference honors. She also shines defensively, as she is quick on her feet, playing short hops and slow rollers at the hot corner with ease. Her arm strength also plays a vital role in her game, allowing her to play shortstop and quickly turn two. Zigler clearly focuses on all facets of the game in her training, making her a valuable player to have.

In her first high school game, Adams struck out 13 batters in a complete-game shutout performance. Her next game, she struck out 14 batters in another complete-game shutout. By the end of her third start, she had already struck out 59 batters. It all added up to a remarkable first season in the circle: 257 strikeouts in only 130 innings pitched, an ERA of 1.13, and an opponent batting average of .148. Following the season, she was named the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference's Most Valuable Player. She kept up her mastery in the circle during travel ball season, tossing 19 innings in one weekend with 42 strikeouts. This lefty simply knows how to miss bats—a lot of bats.
