There's having a productive season and then there's the season that Raegan Ruyle just had for the Kearney Catholic Stars. The junior led the state in batting average (.656), finished second in on-base percentage (0.711), fourth in RBIs (57), and fifth in runs scored (58). But that's not all, she also smashed 22 doubles, racked up 59 hits, and stole 20 bases. She also set five individual season program records for the KC Stars, while her younger sister, Kynlee, set two of her own. To top it off, Ruyle also delivered nine wins in the circle, striking out 78 batters and notching four saves. There are few players in Nebraska, let alone in the country, who can say they have collected over 260 career strikeouts, while also holding a .613 career batting average. This is a softball player who can do it all, and her stats prove it.

The ace of the state champion Bishop Neumann Cavs was simply dominant in the circle this season. She led the state in wins with 28 and struck out 225 batters. In the title game against Douglas County West, she pitched a shutout, picking up five strikeouts after collecting 31 strikeouts in the previous three playoff games combined. Her success on the field led her to be named to the Class C First Team, All-Nebraska Second Team and Super State Second Team. To put her season performance into perspective, she threw 13 shutouts and held opponents to a lowly .203 batting average. She also contributed at the plate, hitting 11 doubles, two home runs, and sporting a .406 batting average. She is one of the best pitchers in the state, and knows a lot about winning.

Bella Zach's bat has some major pop in it and that spelled trouble for pitchers everywhere this season. The junior hit 14 home runs, along with 22 doubles, finishing the season with nearly half of her hits being of the extra-base variety. She ranked second in the state in runs scored with 67, third in slugging percentage (1.193) and fourth in home runs, breaking five Douglas County West program records. She also only struck out three times all season, for a strikeout percentage of a minuscule 0.02%. In the postseason, she was even more productive, totaling nine hits in 15 at-bats, earning her First-Team All-Region honors. Being able to hit for power while also not striking out often is a combination that will obviously drive all opposing pitchers crazy.

In a game on October 7 against the Aquinas Monarchs, Ellie Milburn went deep twice in the same inning, with one of her home runs being a grand slam, which was part of a three-hit, six-RBI performance at the plate. That was Milburn's season in a nutshell, as almost half of her hits went for extra bases and her 13 home runs set a program record for the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays. She also broke her own record for runs scored with 47, beating her previous mark of 44 set last season. Milburn was a member of the state champion team in 2023, which won the first softball title in school history and the first girl's championship in any sport for Ashland-Greenwood in 40 years. She was named to the Class C First Team after her successful junior campaign this season.

After throwing only 30 innings her sophomore season, Gwyn Revis threw more than twice that many this season and delivered big time for the Buena Vista Bison with 140 strikeouts and a 2.23 ERA. However, that was only part of her career-best season on the diamond. Revis also did major damage at the plate, finishing seventh in the state with a .600 batting average, while also collecting 13 doubles, four triples and two home runs. She also regularly puts the ball in play, striking out only four times this season and nine times total in her varsity career. She does everything well on the softball field, from pitching to catching to hitting. With a .523 career batting average and an emerging presence in the circle, look for her stock to continue to rise.
