Top Uncommitted 2026 Prospects From Mississippi

The Magnolia State frequently gets lost in the shuffle among its more populous southern neighbors like Alabama, Louisiana and Tennessee, but Mississippi has warm weather almost year-round and produces plenty of high-level softball talent. With six NCAA Division I programs in the state, including two in the Southeastern Conference, young softball players in Mississippi don't have to go far to see their role models in action.   Below, Prep Softball highlights five of the top uncommitted class of 2026 softball recruits from Mississippi.    Young broke out for the Jaguars last spring, finishing 18-7 with a 1.91 ERA as a sophomore and striking out 145 batters in 154 innings. She was also a regular in the lineup, batting .287 and walking more often than she struck out. In the first round of the playoffs against Clinton, Young pitched to all but two batters and earned the win on back-to-back days as DeSoto Central advanced with a two-game sweep. Young earned Second-Team All-Metro honors from the Memphis Commercial Appeal and an honorable mention all-county recognition by the DeSoto County News.     Reaves played in just 14 high school games as a sophomore, but she made the most of them, batting .500 and slugging .900 with 11 walks and just five strikeouts. She scored 19 runs and drove in 19 runs, and had four three-hit games. In a win over West Lowndes in early March, Reaves homered, doubled, walked twice and drove in five runs. She blasted two home runs a month later in a blowout victory over Houlka, part of a season in which Reaves was Region 4-1A Offensive Player of the Year and a first-team all-division selection.     Claire Collins was named the Region 1-1A Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore and was a first-team all-division selection. She is in the midst of an excellent fall with her club team, winning multiple tournaments across northern Mississippi and Alabama and hitting two doubles in the championship game of a tournament in Saltillo, Miss. in October. Earlier that month, Claire Collins received her first offer from Arkansas State University Mid-South, an NJCAA Division II school just across the Mississippi River from Memphis.     Lashley was a metronome for the Chargers last spring, hitting .537 in 21 games with seven doubles, four triples and 28 runs scored. She also stole 16 bases and made just three errors while mostly playing catcher, and struck out just six times. Lashley hit safely in her team's last 13 games, with four three-hit games during that stretch. That followed an impressive freshman season in which Lashley also reached base in more than half of her plate appearances, and she even hit .420 at the varsity level as an eighth grader in what at the time was Mississippi's largest classification.     Stokes batted .427 and slugged .771 for a Patriots team that finished a perfect 10-0 in district play. She had six doubles, six triples and five home runs, scoring 47 runs in 31 games with just eight strikeouts. Even as a catcher, Stokes was still a force on the basepaths with 27 steals. She closed the season on a tear, recording multiple hits in each of her four playoff games. Stokes has attended camps at Division I schools across her area, including Mississippi State, Ole Miss, LSU, North Alabama and Memphis.
