Top Uncommitted 2026 Prospects From Virginia

These notable softball players all come from the Old Dominion State.   Virginia has long been a hotbed for softball talent, and the high school class of 2026 is no exception. As the college softball recruiting landscape continues to evolve, a number of standout athletes remain uncommitted. These young prospects are not only making waves in local tournaments, but they are also catching the eyes of college scouts nationwide.   Below, we will highlight some of the top uncommitted softball players from Virginia, delving into their achievements, playing styles, and what makes them ones to watch in the coming years.    Coming from the state's capital, Kayleigh is one of the top catchers left in the 2026 class. She is the definition of a "wall" behind the plate, as she has zero passed balls in the past three seasons. Kayleigh's 1.79 pop time and 66 mph overhand velo makes most runners stay where they are. On top of that, she is incredibly fast for a right-handed hitter (2.52-second home-to-first time) and is a reliable stick in the lineup. Kayleigh carries her weight on both her high school and travel teams by producing runs and getting on base for her teammates to bring in. She loves to swing away, but will also take the free opportunities given to her.     This third baseman from Reston, Virginia is a home run hitting player who any college coach would love to have on their team. She has the strength, determination, and reliability every coach wants. For such reasons, Kayla is a two-time All-District selection for her South Lakes High School team. She earned those honors through her consistent defense (.987 fielding percentage) and impressive offense (.424 BA). Her strength is proven on both sides of the ball, as she has a 64 mph overhand velo and a 71 mph exit velo.     A two-time All-State catcher from Poquoson, VA, [player_tooltip player_id='97887' first='Alyssa' last='Laney'] is definitely a name to remember. Alyssa is a leader for her respective teams through her reliable defense, production at the plate, and presence on the field. She is a consistent threat to get on base, whether it be by way of a hit or a free pass. She works hard to build her strength, as she has a 70 mph exit velo. Alyssa also excels in the classroom with a 4.19 GPA.     Lauren is a speedy utility player from Bumpass, Virginia. Her 2.88-second home-to-first time has allowed her to steal over 40 bases this year. Lauren's speed, plus her production at the plate, helped her Louisa County team earned a district championship this past season. Defensively, Lauren can be found all over the field and is consistent at every position. Off the field, Lauren gets it done in the classroom with a 4.41 GPA, which earned her All-American Scholar Athlete honors from the NFCA.     Jillian Smith is one of the hardest working softball players in the state of Virginia. She is consistently working throughout the year to perfect her craft in the circle, on the field, at the plate, and in the weight room. Jillian works on all of these areas because she is utilized at many different positions on the field, including pitcher, third base, and first base. Her strong work ethic led to numerous accomplishments during her sophomore year, including multiple First-Team awards and a VHSL state championship. Between her busy schedule that includes training and playing, Jillian also makes time to attend college recruiting camps to get the exposure she needs and deserves.
